Sebastian Damm is an emerging industrial designer from Melbourne whose career has focussed around furniture and product design. Sebastian's designs focus around low-volume, high-quality and high-value Australian production. Utilising Australian materials his furniture and lighting range aim to promote Australian design, manufacturing and its local materials.
In 2014 Sebastian worked with world renowned fashion designer Sruli Recht. Sebastian assisted Sruli Recht in working on a range of products and art installations. During this placement, Sebastian also worked with Sruli in developing the vastly successful Norlan Whisky Glass, which was funded on Kickstarter in December 2015.
Sebastian graduated from RMIT with a bachelor of industrial design (First Class Honours), with his final project focussing on the production of an Australian manufacturing specific search engine. Since the creation of this concept, Sebastian has gone on to promote "Australian Design Manufacturing Handbook" to emerging designers and students as a free resource. This resource aims to promote Australian design, and manufacturing.
Since Graduating Sebastian has been nominated for the Design Institute of Australia, Graduate of the Year award, where he won a commendation and third overall prize.
Sebastian now works as the lead product designer at Athlegen, the leading Australian treatment table producer, while also consulting on a range of projects from furniture to homewares and products.
